At 109 years old, Bernardus Sukalumba is the oldest man I've ever met. I chatted to him (through an interpreter) while visiting the small village of Ranggase, near the town of Moni on the island of Flores. Bernardus was bed-ridden at the back of his hut but luckily there was an open window through which I could photograph him. He didn't speak any English so it was difficult to make him understand that I needed him to sit still for the full 8 second exposure
